At Beach Cities Psychotherapy, we care deeply about your emotional health — but this September, we want to take that care a step further… to your physical heart too.
That’s why we’re hosting a special event we’re calling:
☕ Coffee, Croissants & Sidewalk CPR
📅 Saturday, November 15, 2025 | 🕘 9am–12pm
📍 Beach Cities Psychotherapy Courtyard
Whether you’re a mental health professional, a parent, or a neighbor walking by — you are invited to come by, enjoy coffee and croissants with us, and learn a lifesaving skill that could change everything for someone you love.
💬 Why We’re Hosting This
Just a couple years ago, a dear friend of mine watched her husband go into full cardiac arrest in their home. She and her kids were terrified but they did something that is nothing short of heroic—
Despite their fear, despite their panic, they performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Because of her and her children, he survived.
I realized afterward: I couldn’t have done what she did.
And that hits hard. Because what if someone I cared about went into cardiac arrest and died because I didn’t know what to do?
I can’t live with that and nobody else should have to either.
That’s why we’re offering this. For me. For you. For the people we love.
And the best part– Ryder Elkin who heroically provided CPR to his father that night and saved his life will be providing the training.
🧠 How It Works
- 9:00–10:30 AM: Mental Health Professionals — come early to connect and learn CPR in a supportive environment with fellow clinicians. If you need to come later, that’s fine too.
- 10:30–12:00 PM: Open to the Community — neighbors, clients, parents, and friends are all welcome to stop by anytime and learn. If you can’t make this time, feel free to come earlier and hang out with the clinicians.
This is sidewalk-style CPR — hands-on and quick to learn. No certification is provided, but you will learn the basics. No pressure. Just knowledge that might one day save a life. You can swing by anytime during those windows to learn the basics and even practice on mannequins with Ryder Elkin, who is now a trained instructor with the American Heart Association.
And yes, there will be free coffee and croissants 🥐☕
