Whitney Boole, MA, LMFT #93107

Whitney founded Beach Cities Psychotherapy in 2016 wanting to help people create meaningful change and healing by the beach in the South Bay. She understands how vulnerable it can be to reach out for help (her journey to become a therapist began with her own journey on the other side of the couch), and she’s committed to making that process easier. Whether it’s with her or one of her Associates at Beach Cities Psych, Whitney prioritizes helping people find the right therapeutic fit — and if her team isn’t it, she’ll help connect you with someone who is.

Whitney takes a direct, down-to-earth approach to therapy. Her work is grounded in compassion and focused on what matters most to her clients: real healing, real relief, and real movement forward. She offers therapy both in her office and outdoors, with Walk-and-Talk sessions available on the Strand in Hermosa Beach across the street from her office.

She specializes in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, and also offers couples therapy. Whitney is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and offers both traditional weekly EMDR and EMDR Intensives. She is currently an EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training and supports other clinicians in learning and growing their EMDR practice.

In addition to EMDR in regular sessions, Whitney offers EMDR Intensives which allow clients to come in for one to two weeks and do deep trauma work utilizing EMDR.  This is sometimes a good fit for clients who want to do some intensive trauma work in a short period of time.  It is a particularly good fit for clients who want to come to Hermosa Beach for a self-built trauma retreat centered in Hermosa Beach around an EMDR Intensive, or clients who already have a regular therapist and just want to do some EMDR work.

Whitney is experienced working with infidelity, betrayal trauma, and divorce. Her book, You Got This: Healing Through Divorce, reflects her belief that divorce is a trauma and requires support, healing, and tools for recovery.

Whitney also has experience working with first responders and teaches trainings on anger, conflict, and trauma for LA County Probation Officers. Her experience with first responders began during her previous career in film and television, where she rode along with and interviewed first responders across the country for a TV show she worked on called Third Watch on NBC.

As a mom of three (including twins), Whitney brings real-life insight into the pressures and challenges of parenting. She loves working with parents and helping them feel more grounded, present, and empowered.

Whitney earned her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and her B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She’s licensed in California (LMFT #93107), a member of CAMFT and EMDRIA, and a proud member of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) from her earlier work in film and TV.

Serving Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, Palos Verdes, and surrounding South Bay communities — both in person and virtually.
